Agate Grey Sliding Sash Windows

Great Harwood case study Pendle

As an experienced glazing specialist, we understand the importance of using the most authentic products when working on heritage property upgrade projects. Sliding sash windows continue to play an important role in our conservation area projects as the perfect window style to recreate period aesthetics.

A recent conservation project overlooking Pendle Hill is a great example of using modern high performing materials to enhance a traditional character property. For this installation, we fitted seven sliding sash windows finished in a beautiful agate grey woodgrain. To ensure the design met conservation requirements, each window incorporated traditional detailing, including a slim midrail and deep bottom rail to achieve the correct heritage proportions.

Designed for Conservation Area Approval

The final specification was completed with antique black heritage hardware, a Victorian-style single astragal bar layout, and a PAS 24 security upgrade. This allowed us to deliver the traditional appearance required for a conservation area setting, without compromising on modern standards of security, performance, or durability.

Conservation projects often come with strict regulations, and while timber windows were once the only acceptable option, advances in manufacturing now mean heritage-style uPVC sash windows are increasingly approved. Quickslide’s Legacy sliding sash range has been successfully used in many conservation schemes thanks to carefully considered design features. Elements such as the 37mm slim midrail, fully mechanical joints, and high quality woodgrain finishes closely replicate the look of traditional timber, while offering the low maintenance and longevity benefits of uPVC.
